Job description

Full Time Clubs Coordinator and Librarian

University College School is an academically selective boys independent school in the heart of Hampstead, North London.

The Junior Branch is seeking to appoint a full-time clubs coordinator and librarian to join the school in January 2027.

This is a genuinely hybrid role. Working largely from our attractive school library, the successful applicant will split their time between the administration of our school clubs programme (with over 80 clubs per term on offer to pupils) and running our school library.

The club’s coordinator role involves liaising with teaching staff and outside contractors to draw up a termly list of clubs, organising the lists and registration of clubs using our SOCS database, overseeing the employment checks, training and payment of outside contractors and handling all aspects of club administration and parental queries.

Previous experience in running a school library is not essential as training can be provided. Applicants with a strong knowledge of current children’s fiction will, however, be at an advantage.

The Junior Branch is a very friendly working environment. This job would be ideal for anyone (male or female) who enjoys working with children and is flexible in their approach to work, being happy to work in different locations and with different colleagues.

Pay and Working Hours

The position is advertised with a full-time equivalent salary range of between £40k - £45k working from 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday during term time (34 weeks) plus an additional week at the beginning or end of each term, as needed (arranged with Headmaster), to a total of 37 weeks. This gives an actual salary range of £32,769 - £36-865.

We are looking for candidates who are warm, friendly, keen to help, caring, enjoy working with younger children and are flexible in their outlook. Candidates with previous experience of working in schools or additional qualifications (inside or outside education) will be at an advantage.

Arrangements for the Appointment

The closing date for applications is 12pm on Wednesday 30th September 2026. Interviews are likely to take place during the week commencing Monday 5 October 2026.

However, please note that we reserve the right to interview and appoint at any stage during this process; early applications are therefore very welcome.

Child Protection

University College School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check before commencing employment. This is a requirement as the position is within a school working with children aged under 18. UCS will also undertake its own recruitment checks through contact with previous employers, and others, to confirm applicants' identities and their professional records.
