Are you ready to shape the future of cloud security for a major organisation?

As part of this evolution, they've launched a brand-new Cloud Centre of Excellence and are seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to be at the core of this strategic initiative.

This pivotal role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic vision to design and implement enterprise-grade cloud security solutions on a self-service cloud platform. You will work within a high-impact team, collaborating cross-functionally to enable secure innovation across the Group.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the design and implementation of secure cloud services (mainly Azure) within a self-service model.
2. Serve as the cloud security SME, embedding security principles across compute, storage, networking, RBAC, and containerized environments.
3. Build scalable, compliant solutions using Security-as-Code, Terraform, and native cloud tools.
4. Work closely with delivery teams and represent Group Information Security (GIS) to ensure security is integrated at every layer of the cloud ecosystem.
5. Promote DevSecOps practices and ensure integration with Group security processes like monitoring, alerting, and incident response.

Qualifications

1. Proven experience in cloud security engineering in an enterprise environment, preferably on Microsoft Azure.
2. Strong background in foundational security design, including identity and access management, secure networking, container platforms (Kubernetes / AKS), and infrastructure protection.
3. Hands-on experience with DevSecOps, IaC (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Veracode, Trivy, and Checkov.
4. Knowledge of standards like CIS, NIST, GDPR, ISO, and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
5. Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, Go, Groovy) with a focus on secure coding.

Ideal Candidate Profile

1. Expert in Azure cloud security services (Defender for Cloud, Azure Sentinel, Key Vault, APIM).
2. Advocate of Zero Trust models and secure development practices.
3. Experience with SIEM & SOAR tools, preferably Rapid7.
4. Excellent communicator capable of influencing at all levels.
5. Passionate about cloud innovation and ongoing security improvements.
6. Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate or AWS equivalent.
7. Cyber Essentials / NCSC certification or similar.
