International Business Machines Corporation Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to build and operate highly reliable, scalable OpenShift and Azure environments.

You will implement CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Argo CD and Tekton, support observability with Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, and ServiceNow, and lead incident response with data-driven root-cause analysis. Hybrid working and ongoing learning are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, and containerised apps.
• Azure cloud services, networking, identity, and cloud-native patterns.
• Observability platforms using Prometheus, Loki, Grafana.
• Automation and IaC with Terraform, Ansible, or similar.

Job description

• Build and operate highly reliable and scalable systems using OpenShift and Azure
• Implementation and management of CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling, and infrastructure improvements using (GitHub Actions, Argo CD and Tekton)
• Supporting the observability stack, including metrics, logging, dashboards, and alerting using Prometheus, Loki, Grafana and ServiceNow
• Coordinate incident response efforts, assisting with root cause analysis, and drive long-term corrective strategies.
• Identify reliability risks and create plans to eliminate operational bottlenecks through automation and engineering improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, security, architecture, and platform engineering, to deliver reliable services.
• Maintain and manage technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
• Work with the team to create operational runbooks
• Influence infrastructure and platform roadmap decisions through data, analysis, and best-practice guidance.
• Able to use Agile Framework (Sprints and cadences) with the use of Jira and Confluence.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and containerised applications.
• Expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services, networking, identity, and cloud-native patterns.
• Experience implementing and managing observability platforms using Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana.
• Proven track record improving system availability, performance, and reliability in production environments.
• Strong skills in automation and infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservice architectures.
• Experienced at solving problems and troubleshooting, fixing, and resolving issues - owning incidents and problems through to route cause
• A passion to continue to learn and develop your engineering skills

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). • Experience with service meshes, such as Istio
• Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices for cloud and container environments.
• Experience in a DevOps engineering role.
• Experience in understanding and implementing KPI's and error budgeting to produce clear EoM Reporting
