Job summary

DRW, a diversified trading firm, seeks a Cloud Performance Engineer to join the Cloud Performance Team across the firm. You will design cloud/hybrid architectures for latency-sensitive trading workloads and work with AWS, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes to optimize end-to-end performance.

The ideal candidate has strong Linux, networking, automation with Python/Bash, and a security-first mindset, able to collaborate across teams and deliver robust scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with AWS cloud services and networking.
• Strong Linux systems knowledge and TCP/IP networking.
• Proficient in Bash and Python for automation; experience with serverless/cloud orchestration.
• Experience with IaC tooling (Terraform) to manage cloud resources.
• Experience with modern AI coding agents and balancing prototyping with quality.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud and hybrid cloud architectures for latency-sensitive trading workloads.
• Build and maintain systems to monitor latency of distributed hybrid workloads.
• Develop orchestration tooling for provisioning cloud resources and network configurations.

We are seeking a Cloud Performance Engineer to work with technology teams acrossthe firm to build high-performance cloud solutions for trading workloads. You will join theCloud Performance Team, working alongside cloud engineers, software developers,Linux- and network engineers to optimize performance end to end.

The ideal candidate draws on experience in cloud technology, systems engineering, networking and automation.

What you will do in this role:

• Design and implement cloud and hybrid cloud architectures for latency-sensitivetrading workloads.
• Build and maintain systems that continuously monitor the latency characteristics ofdistributed hybrid workloads.
• Work on orchestration tooling for provisioning cloud resources as well as networkingconfigurations and server-side processes
• Build backend systems for collecting performance metrics and tooling to query it

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), with deepknowledge of networking and compute services (EC2, VPC, Direct Connect). Goodoverview of the AWS service landscape and core concepts such as IAM
• Experience in using IaC tools such as Terraform to manage both cloud infrastructureand a broad set of compute and networking resources (docker, K8s, Cisco devices)
• Experience in network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)and major routing protocols
• Solid understanding of Linux systems and the Linux network stack
• Strong background in automation via Bash scripting and Python programming, ideallyin conjunction with orchestration through serverless cloud services.
• Demonstratable experience working with modern AI coding agents, balancing rapidprototyping with critical review to ensure simplicity and quality of deliverables
• Able to implement systems with a security-first mindset, adhering to firm-wide securitypolicies, and best practice implementations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently drive work tocompletion
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building data pipelines for centralizing structured data
• Experience working with Cisco routing and switching hardware
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform
• Experience programming in a compiled languages (preferably Go or C++)
• Experience with Linux kernel bypass techniques such as DPDK.
