Job summary

JPMorgan Chase, based in the United Kingdom, seeks a Software Engineer II to help design and build scalable microservices for the Global Banking Platform. You will work on cloud-native architectures, participate in secondments to fintech partners, and contribute to production-ready tooling and CI/CD pipelines while ensuring security and reliability.

Ideal candidates have strong software design experience, proficiency in Go, Python or Java, and hands-on cloud experience.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Hands-on experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proficient in at least one major programming language: Go, Python and/or Java.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Experience in developing automated tests as an integral part of the development cycle.
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Experience in large corporate environments with modern languages and querying languages.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Experience with any cloud provider.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools with evaluation of outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and secure handling of data.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and develop scalable, performant microservices using software engineering best practices.
• Write secure and high-quality code.
• Write automated unit tests, integration tests, etc.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met by code.
• Identify hidden problems in code and data and drive improvements in hygiene and architecture.
• Manage and troubleshoot deployments from testing to production.
• Interface with other engineering teams to ensure coherent feature integration.
• Translate product requirements into trackable tickets.
• Contribute to engineering communities and events exploring new tech.
• Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect within the team.
• Leverage AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, with peer review and secure coding standards.
