Job description

At ECM, we're scientists and engineers offering a personal service to help our peers find jobs - register with us, and let us do the hard work for you.

Providing DevOps expertise for scalable platform automation.

This scientific instrumentation company is engineering a platform for scalable manufacturing 2.0. Using modern approaches to tackle clinical treatment processes, they are producing elegant solutions using automation.

A key aspect of this solution is the use of a Cloud platform for distributed controls. To meet project needs, they are looking to recruit a Cloud Infrastructure Software Engineer to join their software team. The role provides an interface between development and operations, enhancing current architecture and core services. This also covers DevSecOps as security is paramount for success.

Requirements:
  • Degree / industry background in software, followed by demonstrable commercial experience within an engineering company developing and deploying cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise of DevOps including setting up servers, networks, storage and Cloud infrastructure (AWS / Azure); automation tools and scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Python); CI / CD workflows; and implementation (Jenkins).
  • Good communications (you’ll be working with non-IT colleagues with technical backgrounds in science and robotics).
  • Additional experience with hypervisors or virtualised software containers would be desirable.

The offices are based outside of Cambridge with limited public transport. Due to the nature of the company, work is fully onsite (occasional ad hoc home working may be possible when projects allow).

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including bonus, enhanced pension, free lunch, private medical, and support for travel (electric car leasing scheme, cycle to work scheme and season ticket loan).

No company sponsorship is available. Visa holders will be considered if they have no time-limits to their work permission.
