Job summary

Wave Photonics in Cambridge is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design and operate a cloud-backed HPC platform for heavy design and simulation workloads. The stack spans on‑prem and cloud, unified under Kubernetes, with burst capability for peak demand.

Qualifications

• Experience running Kubernetes in production, ideally including bare metal.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Ability to design robust/reliable systems and care about user experience.

Responsibilities

• The compute platform – Kubernetes across on‑prem and cloud, run as one coherent system.
• Observability – Monitoring and alerting for proactive issue detection.
• Data infrastructure – Reliable storage with backups.
• Security – RBAC, secrets, policies, zero trust networking.
