Our growing team operates across the cloud and infrastructure technologies domains. We’re expanding our engineering capability and are looking for people who understand Linux in real depth.

The role is focused on specific projects and delivering outcomes, which will change regularly. This is not an operations role – you will see a wide range of challenges over time, every project is different. Innovation is at the heart of all we do, which is why you will be utilising various open-source and proprietary technologies.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service).

Location: UK Wide

Your role: As a Linux Engineer within Capgemini’s vibrant cloud platform team, you will have a pivotal role in the following types of projects:

  1. Migrating Workloads to Cloud – working as part of a team to migrate application workloads to public cloud, taking end-to-end responsibility for the Linux workloads.
  2. Platform Modernisation – helping clients embrace open-source solutions embracing Linux, moving away from complex and expensive mid-range systems.
  3. Public Cloud Deployment – working with a DevOps or SRE squad, providing expertise across all Linux domains, often including modern application hosting solutions such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift. Optimising Linux Platforms – helping to improve resilience, availability, monitoring, automation, and security, often in public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), using open-source, commercial, and cloud platform tools & services.
  4. ERP to Cloud – helping customers adopt public cloud for ERP (SAP, Oracle) solutions, often with a reliance on Linux as the operating system of choice.

You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini, striving for equity, diversity, and inclusion is part of everyday life, and will be part of your working reality. We have built an inclusive and welcoming environment, for everyone.

Your skills and experience: If you understand the impact of open-source technologies on the market and want to develop your cloud skills further, then this role could be right for you. So, what kind of skills and qualities are we looking for?

  • In-depth knowledge of Linux, covering one or more distributions (RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu, etc.), including high availability & clustering deployment patterns. Experience working with Linux and open-source technologies in public cloud.
  • Experience delivering Linux-based solutions in a project context, responsible for technical delivery and quality.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and SRE delivery models – ability to work in a team or squad, adopting agile methods and ways of working. Demonstrable scripting experience (Python, Shell, Perl) for automation, using tools like Ansible Tower, SUSE Manager, or other open-source solutions.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or Red Hat OpenShift – implementing, optimizing, and operating. Knowledge of public cloud platforms and infrastructure technologies (compute, storage, networks, data, security).
  • Ability to interact effectively with team members and clients, develop documentation, and present professionally.

You might not have all the qualities – we understand that. If you demonstrate real expertise in a few and a working knowledge of most, along with passion to develop, we will support you.

Your security clearance: To be successfully appointed, it is required to obtain SC clearance. The successful applicant must have resided continuously in the UK for the last 5 years, among other criteria. Throughout recruitment, questions about your eligibility for security clearance will be asked, including country of residence and nationality. Some roles may be restricted to UK nationals for security reasons.

What does ‘Get The Future You Want’ mean for you? You will be empowered to explore, innovate, and progress. Capgemini’s ‘learning for life’ mindset offers training, development opportunities, and access to numerous external certifications (AWS, Microsoft, Harvard, Cybersecurity, etc.). Bring your skills and perspectives, inspire and learn from your teammates, and unlock value in all you do. Join a community of experts supporting you every step of the way. We encourage a positive work-life balance with flexible working arrangements.

Why you should consider Capgemini: Joining Capgemini means contributing to a sustainable and inclusive future, working with diverse professionals and industry leaders. We foster innovation and growth, helping clients leverage technology to transform their businesses. Build your skills, make a difference, and help shape the future.
