Job summary

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence in Leeds, UK, seeks an experienced AWS Developer to join its National Security team. The role emphasizes building systems on AWS, partnering with autonomous DevOps teams, and engaging with end users to design, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services.

The ideal candidate will bring substantial AWS expertise, Lambda-language skills, IaC proficiency, and a track record with CI/CD tools.

Qualifications

  • Experienced AWS Developer with substantial AWS know-how and ability to solve complex business problems.
  • Demonstrable expertise with AWS services (EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, KMS, ELB, SNS, SQS, IAM).
  • Scripting ability with Shell, Bash or Python.
  • Proficiency in at least one Lambda-compatible language.
  • Proficient with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform).
  • Experience with Git, Mercurial, or Perforce.
  • Experience in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP).
  • AWS Associate-level certification is a plus (Solution Architect, Developer, or DevOps).
  • Experience with microservices and API design an advantage.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, ECS).
  • Strong understanding of monitoring, observability and FinOps on AWS.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, Bitbucket).
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, networking, routing and firewalls.
  • Security clearance required for this vacancy.

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements
  • We are looking for an experienced AWS Developer.
  • We expect substantial experience in AWS and in solving complex business issues.
  • We would regard the right candidate as an AWS subject matter expert.
  • We need demonstrable expertise with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, KMS, ELB, SNS, SQS, and IAM.
  • We value scripting ability with languages such as Shell, Bash, or Python.
  • We expect good coding experience in at least one Lambda-compatible language.
  • We need proficiency in Infrastructure as Code technologies such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
  • We expect experience using version control systems such as Git, Mercurial, or Perforce.
  • We value strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with a desire to learn new technologies.
