We are seeking an experienced hands‑on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team. As part of a high‑performing Agile team, you will design, implement and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure using a tailored SAFe Agile SecDevOps Scrum process. You will apply DevOps best practices, cloud‑native design principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to drive automation and continuous delivery across environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage source code with GIT, including pull requests, branching strategies (Trunk‑based, GitFlow) and collaborative version control workflows.
  • Design and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, covering EC2, ECR, ECS, ECK, ASG, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, ports, R53 and other services.
  • Provision, configure and maintain secure, scalable cloud environments using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, automating build, test and deployment across multiple environments.
  • Write and maintain automation scripts in Bash, Python and PowerShell to streamline operational workflows.
  • Use Docker for containerisation and apply orchestration best practices; manage configuration with Ansible.
  • Manage secrets and access control using Vault, IAM policies and other tools to secure credentials.
  • Apply AWS security best practices: encryption, patching, monitoring, least privilege, and compliance requirements.
  • Implement backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies for data protection and business continuity.
  • Deploy robust monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch to ensure reliability and proactive incident response.
  • Participate in Agile development teams, translating business requirements into technical solutions and contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives and daily stand‑ups.
  • Design scalable, resilient and cost‑effective cloud‑native solutions meeting availability and performance objectives.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Configure routing, traffic management and load balancing, including NGINX and AWS‑native tools.
  • Apply structured release and change management processes, including governance, rollback strategies and version control.
  • Support Java application environments and deployment considerations where relevant.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, continually enhancing delivery pipelines, infrastructure and development practices.
  • Design and manage SNS topics for event‑driven architectures, integrating notifications with Lambda or external systems.
  • Utilise Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) to support Agile delivery, documentation and CI/CD management.
  • Manage Active Directory and ADFS for identity and access management, group policies, SSO and cloud authentication integration.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Hands‑on experience in a programming language such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Redhat operating system and Windows administration.
  • Experience in AWS, Azure or another cloud provider.
  • Experience with containerised solutions.
  • Experience supporting application troubleshooting.
  • Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
  • Configuration management with Ansible (or similar tools).
  • CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Bamboo or equivalent).
  • Automation experience using any relevant tools.
Desired Skills
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or equivalent certification.
  • Proficiency in Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Ansible for configuration management.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • ITIL Foundation Certification or experience with ITIL‑based environments.
Clearance Requirements
