Exciting opportunity for a Cloud Engineer to join the Payments Services Platform in our International & CHAPS Lab, providing payment options for all of our customers. Specifically, to support our new industry-leading International Payments Platform (IPP). Our strategic roadmap includes a Payments Industry product called Global Payments Plus (GPP).

As the Cloud Engineer, you'll lead, direct, and shape approaches to solving technical challenges and translating business requirements into technical solutions. You’ll work collaboratively to create, build, support, and improve our software, working closely with product and engineering teams. You'll be a key contributor to ensure good quality and engineering practices are followed in line with our engineering transformation strategy.

What you’ll do…

  1. Establish cloud patterns and principles in line with the Group’s methodologies, working with feature teams.
  2. Focus on cloud elements of solutions, ensuring smooth deployment and continuous improvement of processes.
  3. Build and support shared hosting services like Kubernetes, Ingress/Egress, Networking, Certificates, and data resources.
  4. Implement best practices in DevOps tools and cloud resources such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Harness, and maintain our hosting platform.
  5. Create and improve deployment routes to production with automation strategies like blue/green and canary deployments.
  6. Configure and enhance observability controls.
  7. Prove scalability, resilience, and security of systems.

What you’ll need…

  • Broad and deep technical experience with a passion for engineering excellence.
  • Ability to independently design, implement, manage, and optimize cloud deployments, proficient in orchestration tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Harness.
  • Background in DevOps, Cloud, or Software engineering with solid understanding of Cloud delivery.
  • Strong Cloud Engineering and DevOps experience, preferably with GCP.
  • Experience with cloud-native solutions and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of Observability, SRE, DevSecOps, FinOps.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking, connectivity patterns, and key data tools like Kafka, BigTable, DataProc, BigQuery.

It would be great if you also had…

  • Knowledge of network protocols & security.
  • Experience with Contract Testing, API management tools like APIgee, Kafka, and Microservices architecture.
