About the Position

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will focus on improving tools, processes, and automation to eliminate manual operations and develop repeatable processes. This role involves maintaining a highly available server infrastructure for deploying instances, applying updates, managing configuration changes, and tuning systems. The candidate should have experience with both application and infrastructure management, supporting hybrid on-premises and cloud environments. They will assess existing platforms and contribute to designing and building resilient future infrastructure and applications.

Responsibilities:

1. Build, design, deploy, and maintain cloud solutions across AWS.
2. Implement and manage on-premises solutions.
3. Participate in technology evaluation and reengineering to support strategic goals and process improvements.
4. Support the adoption of cloud technologies aligning with company strategy.
5. Enhance automation tools for cloud enablement, contributing to their design and evolution.
6. Identify and resolve business issues impacting operations.
7. Assess issue urgency and facilitate resolution, supporting high availability environments.
8. Perform performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization, including configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions.
9. Design, implement, and manage workload automation initiatives.
10. Follow Change Management and Problem Management policies, with familiarity in ITIL or similar frameworks.

Skills and Experience:

1. Over 10 years of relevant IT experience.
2. More than 5 years as a systems administrator in client/server environments, with deployment automation tools like Ansible.
3. At least 3 years working with cloud platforms.
4. Deep knowledge of Linux-based systems, including hardware, software, networking, and storage.
5. Experience designing cloud infrastructure on AWS for various scales of applications.
6. Specific experience with AWS services such as VPC, EC2, EBS, RDS, IAM, and optionally EKS.
7. Experience with cloud adoption processes, server builds, data migration, and performance tuning.
8. Technical knowledge of network, storage, Linux/Windows, application development (Java, Node), and security.
9. Experience configuring software-defined networking and security settings.
10. Familiarity with DevOps practices and Agile methodologies.
11. Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed environments.
12. Eligible for SC Clearance (resided in the UK for 5+ years).
