Job Description

We are seeking a multi-skilled Database Administrator with proven hands-on experience across PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle, preferably in hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS/Azure/OCI). The ideal candidate will have a balanced mix of cloud-native DB administration, on-premise DB optimization, and cross-platform migration experience.

This role focuses on supporting enterprise-level systems, with PostgreSQL as the strategic database engine, and requires working collaboratively with development and infrastructure teams to ensure availability, performance, and scalability of data platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Cloud-Based & On-Prem DB Administration: Administer, configure, and optimize PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle databases hosted in AWS, Azure, and on-premises.
  2. Database Design & Development: Design new schemas, optimize existing structures, and support database components aligned with application needs.
  3. Performance Tuning: Monitor and tune query and system performance across PostgreSQL, MS SQL, and Oracle DBs. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  4. Backup & Disaster Recovery: Define and implement robust backup/recovery procedures for multi-DB environments across different platforms and cloud providers.
  5. Security & Compliance: Implement access controls, encryption, auditing, and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
  6. Cloud Automation & Scalability: Automate database operations using cloud-native tools and scripting (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, AWS RDS/Aurora tools, Azure SQL automation).
  7. Monitoring & Health Checks: Utilize tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, OEM, or Prometheus to monitor performance and availability.
  8. Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve database incidents; conduct RCAs for critical incidents and outages.
  9. Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps, Application, and Security teams for seamless integration, monitoring, and support.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (RDS, EC2, Aurora) and/or Azure (SQL Database, Managed Instances).
  • MS SQL Server – Always On, indexing, query tuning, backups.
  • Oracle 12c/19c – RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, patching, performance tuning.
  • SQL & Scripting: Advanced SQL skills; Shell/Python scripting for automation.
  • Database Design & Data Modeling: Experience with OLTP and OLAP systems, normalization, and warehousing concepts.
  • Monitoring Tools: CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, OEM, Nagios, or equivalent.
  • Security & DR: Familiarity with encryption (TDE, SSL), auditing, and DR testing.
