Job summary

JPMorganChase is looking for an Software Engineer III to join the Cloud Data Platform team in Glasgow. You will design, provision, and operate a scalable cloud data platform on AWS and Databricks, collaborating with data engineers and security teams to deliver production‑ready infrastructure and analytics workloads.

You will build automation with Python/Java, implement CI/CD, enforce security best practices, and enhance observability across platforms for reliable, governed data processing.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
• Proficient experience provisioning AWS infrastructure with Terraform
• Experience with core AWS services (VPC, IAM, S3, EC2/ECS/EKS, RDS, KMS, CloudWatch)
• Working with Databricks for platform admin and production workloads
• Proficiency in Python (preferred) or Java, with automation experience
• Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD for infra & platform delivery
• Strong troubleshooting across cloud, distributed systems, and data pipelines
• Experience with enterprise‑authorized AI-assisted development tools and secure outputs
• Understanding of responsible AI in engineering workflows

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform
• Develop and manage Databricks platform capabilities for production workloads
• Build automation around platform provisioning using Python or Java
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infra and platform deployments
• Implement security best practices including least-privilege access controls
• Improve platform reliability via observability, logging, metrics, and tracing
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable designs
• Document standards, patterns, and runbooks for team use
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools while ensuring code quality and security
