Job summary

CDL is seeking an Intermediate Data Engineer to join its Insurance Retail department in the North West UK. You will support development squads with reliable, automated and cloud-ready data solutions, combining SQL, scripting and AWS experience with DevOps practices.

You’ll work across data pipelines, governance, and observability while embracing AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery and documentation. The role offers hybrid working and career progression within CDL.

Qualifications

> Strong SQL skills, including PostgreSQL experience.
> Prove n experience with AWS data engineering and operational support (RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, EC2, VPC, CloudWatch).
> CI/CD pipelines and automated testing/deployment (GitLab or similar).
> Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation).
> Agile methodologies; Jira and ServiceNow familiarity.
> AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Kiro, GitHub Copilot).

Responsibilities

Build, test, monitor and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure using CI/CD, IaC and DevOps.
Apply security best practices across data pipelines, cloud infra and operations.
Use AWS services and PostgreSQL/RDS to design, deliver and support scalable data solutions.
Adopt AI-assisted engineering to improve delivery flow, quality and docs.
Develop automated deployment, testing and workflows with GitLab, Terraform/OpenTofu.
