Job summary

IBM Software is seeking a Software Engineer to help build and operate a cloud-native compute platform that powers Confluent Cloud workloads. You will design, implement, and maintain services across Kubernetes clusters, contributing to platform APIs, operators, and multi-tenant workloads.

You will work with product managers and engineers to understand requirements, improve reliability, and drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Several years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating production software.
• Proficiency in Go or a similar language and ability to learn Go.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts such as deployments, services, controllers, or operators.
• Understanding of distributed systems, APIs, networking, or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with software testing, debugging, monitoring, and incident resolution.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement services, APIs, and Kubernetes controllers using Go.
• Contribute to systems that manage workload placement and lifecycle across clusters.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand requirements and deliver reliable solutions.
• Participate in technical design discussions and evaluate trade-offs.
• Improve reliability, scalability, observability, and maintainability of systems.
• Write automated tests, documentation, and runbooks; participate in code reviews.
