Job description

Are you a Cloud Automation expert interested in working for a Great Place To Work (GPTW) Certified organisation?

Shared Services Connected Limited are currently seeking a versatile Automation expert with a solid working knowledge of industry-standard public cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud, MS Azure, and AWS. As a Cloud Automation & Optimisation Engineer, you will lead the build, implementation, and refinement of advanced automation and optimisation solutions to enhance operational efficiency and resource utilisation. This is a highly technical role requiring an in-depth understanding of various cloud services and automation frameworks including Ansible and Terraform. As a key member of the technical team, the role encompasses planning, technical leadership, and mentoring.

We offer excellent career progression opportunities, flexible working options across the UK, tailored benefits, and training and development opportunities.

This role will primarily be remote with occasional travel to our offices.

What you'll be doing:
  • Lead the identification and execution of optimisation projects to improve cloud resource utilisation and reduce operational costs.
  • Build and implement extensive cloud automation strategies to enhance system reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough analysis to identify automation opportunities and optimisation wins, utilising Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform) and IT Automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure automation and optimisation initiatives align with business goals and security standards, especially for UK Public Sector accounts.
What you’ll bring:
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, OCI) with a proven track record in implementing scalable cloud infrastructure automation and optimisation solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform, capable of developing complex scripts and frameworks.
  • Experience leading and delivering significant automation and optimisation projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor team members and lead by example, even if not in a formal management role initially.
It would be great if you had:
  • Proficiency in containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for efficient application deployment and management.

If you're interested in this role but unsure if your skills match, please apply — we'd love to hear from you!

While this role is advertised as full-time, we support flexible working arrangements to promote work/life balance, motivation, and productivity. If you need flexible working, we encourage you to apply and discuss possible arrangements with us.
