Job summary

eFinancialCareers is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to design and implement Azure and GCP cloud architectures for a major transformation. You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on engineering to support legacy migration and cloud-native modernization.

The role involves working in a hybrid London setting (3 days on-site) to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions in a regulated financial environment. Strong multi-cloud expertise and Terraform are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience across Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
• Strong Azure expertise including Landing Zones, AKS, App Services, Functions, API Management, networking, Entra ID.
• Strong GCP expertise including GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, VPC, IAM and monitoring.
• Experience designing cloud-native, microservices, API-led and event-driven architectures.
• Strong Kubernetes and containerisation experience.
• Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly Terraform.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience supporting cloud migration and application modernisation programmes.

Responsibilities

NEW CONTRACT ROLE - CLOUD ARCHITECT

A new opportunity has just landed for an experienced, hands‑on Cloud Architect to support a major cloud transformation and application modernisation programme.

This role would suit someone who combines the strategic thinking of an Architect with the hands‑on technical depth of a senior Cloud Engineer. You will play a key role in designing and implementing Azure and GCP cloud architectures, supporting the migration and modernisation of legacy applications and helping shape secure, scalable cloud‑native solutions.

Location: London - 3 days per week on-site

Rate: £650-£700 per day

Contract: Inside IR35

Duration: 6 months initial contract with potential extension

Start: ASAP

Key requirements:

• Strong hands‑on experience across both Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform
• Experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale multi‑cloud and hybrid‑cloud environments
• Strong Azure experience, including Azure Landing Zones, AKS, App Services, Functions, API Management, networking, monitoring and Entra ID
• Strong GCP experience, including GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, VPC, IAM and monitoring

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working in regulated environments such as Banking or Financial Services, with an understanding of:

• Operational resilience
• Cloud security frameworks
• Data governance
• Risk and architecture governance
• Regulatory and outsourcing considerations

Desirable experience includes:

• Investment banking, wholesale banking or capital markets experience
• Cloud migration factory experience
• Databricks or modern data platform experience
• Supporting AI, analytics or data engineering workloads in the cloud
• Azure and/or GCP architecture certifications
