Closed Landfill & Gas Supervisor

Are you passionate about environmental compliance and waste management? Do you enjoy managing contractors, working with technical data, and undertaking activities to ensure both gas and environmental compliance? If so, Yorwaste has the perfect opportunity for you to join our team and support the safe and efficient operation of North Yorkshire's closed landfill sites.

What We Offer

• Salary: £35,000 per year plus a company van.

• Contract: Permanent, full-time.

• Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

• Location: North Yorkshire, with travel between landfill sites.

The Role

As our Closed Landfill & Gas Supervisor, you will lead the monitoring and management of gas and environmental compliance across Yorwaste's closed landfill sites. Your key responsibilities include:

• Delivering the North Yorkshire Council landfill monitoring schedule on time and to high standards.

• Managing Yorwaste's gas contractors to ensure compliance, performance, and safety.

• Undertaking gas balancing activities, routine sampling, and maintenance of gas infrastructure.

• Using MonitorPro software to input, analyse, and report on gas and environmental data.

• Preparing clear reports with findings and recommendations for senior management and NYC.

• Liaising regularly with both internal teams and external partners to maintain strong communication and operational excellence.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who has:

• A landfill COTC certificate, or a commitment to obtain one as a compulsory requirement.

• A Full UK Driving Licence with no bans or disqualifications.

• Experience using MonitorPro or similar environmental monitoring software, including Microsoft Office and Excel.

• Good understanding of waste management environmental issues and relevant regulations.

• Proven contractor management skills including reviewing risk assessments and method statements.

• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Willingness to work towards IOSH & CDM qualifications (training provided).
