University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Vascular Scientist to join our renowned Vascular Science Unit.

This is your chance to work with a talented and supportive team, providing critical services across two well-established hospital sites: Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital.

Person specification

• Work in accordance with the NHS constitution and the Trust values
• Show care and compassion towards patients and use appropriate language to communicate with sensitivity and respect
• Have a passion for clinical vascular science and its value to patient health
• Be a team player – willing to help others, adaptable, good listening skills, respect the opinions of others, embrace change and support others
• Be passionate about teaching others including STP trainees and other healthcare professionals
• Have a proactive approach to work - identify areas of change and being adaptable, take an active role in daily running’s and departmental decision making

Knowledge and Experience

• Practical clinical experience with proficiency in vascular ultrasound scanning
• Theoretical knowledge of Theoretical knowledge of vascular diseases, haemodynamics and the physics of ultrasounddiseases, haemodynamics and the physics of ultrasound
• Ability to triage and prioritise vascular science workload
• Understand the potential hazards and bio-effects of ultrasound and aware of the national and international ultrasound scan safety guidelines and able to operate safely
• Experience of training, mentoring and supporting others

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrate skills in problem solving and dealing with complex clinical issues
• Proficient in IT skills to be able to electronically report, record and analyse data
• Knowledge of research, audit and service evaluation skills and techniques
• Good presentation skills able to prepare and present at local and national meetings

Qualifications and Training

• First level degree in a relevant scientific subject
• Accredited Vascular Scientist (AVS) with the Society for Vascular Technology of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or NSHCS STP Certificate of Completion (E) (or near completion for those in year 3 of STP)
• HCPC registration or equivalence in progress
• Evidence of continuing professional development
