A regional health service provider in Scotland is looking for a support role in Clinical Trials. The post-holder will assist Principal Investigators in facilitating recruitment and managing clinical data, ensuring adherence to protocols. Candidates must have an RGN qualification and relevant experience. This brings an opportunity to contribute significantly to clinical research within the community.
The Role
The post exists to provide support for local Principal Investigators who are carrying out Clinical Trials within NHS Lanarkshire, facilitating recruitment into those Clinical Trials, managing clinical trial data and maintaining adherence to the Clinical Trials Protocols. The post holder will carry out this role under the supervision of the Clinical Trials Practitioner and/or the Principal Investigator.
The post holder will assist the Clinical Trials Practitioner to maintain a balanced trials portfolio of studies in one or more conditions. The post-holder may take on the role of study co-ordinator for one or more studies if agreed with the Principal Investigator and Lead Clinical Trials Nurse.

What we'll need you to bring
First level RGN.
2 years experience post RGN registration.
Undertake ICH-Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training. This must be provided through a training organisation recognised by NHS Lanarkshire’s R&D Department. ICH-GCP training requirements are: an initial full day course followed by a minimum half day, biennial update (or online equivalent).
Undergo study-specific training for every Clinical Trial in which they are involved; this may be provided by the Study Sponsor through study start-up meetings, and the post-holder must ensure that any such training is recorded in their own training records, and is recorded in the appropriate log within the Study Site File
Evidence of continued professional development.
Full driving licence.
High standard of communication skills.
Ability to understand the application of Research Governance.
Ability to work as part of a team,
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to prioritise and time manage.
Computer literate.
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
Educated to degree level
Experience In Primary Care Sites
Knowledge/aware of GCP guidelines and EU directive for clinical trials
Knowledge of research governance
Willing to expand skills required for clinical trials e.g. phlebotomy, IV drug therapy, recording ECGs

Fixed Term or Secondment for 18 months

Please note this is a fixed term post for 18 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

This role will be based throughout NHS Lanarkshire
