Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a fixed-term post in the Research Delivery Team for 12 months. The role coordinates clinical trial activity, screens and recruits local patients, handles consent and regulatory submissions, and adheres to Good Clinical Practice.

Full GMC registration is required. The post offers a full-time schedule within an agile research environment, with opportunities to contribute to audit and education sessions.

Qualifications

• Good Clinical Practice compliant
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Understanding of clinical risk management
• Interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, students and patients
• Motivation to engage staff and work independently within a team
• Nice to have NHS experience and research engagement
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice and IT skills

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage trial activities
• Submit regulatory, ethics and governance applications to conduct trials within the Trust and University
• Identify, screen and assess local patients for eligibility against inclusion and exclusion criteria
• Provide patients with information on trial risks and benefits and start informed consent
• Ensure trial-specific investigations and sampling follow the protocol
• Keep accurate, auditable documentation and record data as required
• Identify barriers to recruitment and performance, and help resolve them
• Ensure activities meet the Principles of Good Clinical Practice and the National Research Governance Framework for Health & Social Care
• Participate in team meetings with research Fellows, research nurses, consultants and University staff
• Promote academic excellence through peer-learning, education sessions and journal club
