Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled engineer/technologist to join Mechanical Engineering Services (MES) at the Freeman Hospital. The role covers design, manufacture and installation of mechanical solutions for clinical services, with collaboration across RTAS and the Rehabilitation Engineering unit.

You will hold a degree in engineering or science (or equivalent), have experience with CAD/CAM, CNC milling/turning, fabrication and TIG welding, and a full UK

Qualifications

Degree in engineering or sciences or equivalent
Post-graduate diploma or equivalent level experience
Full, valid UK driving licence
Registered as Clinical Technologist with RCT or AHCS (desirable)
Experience with machine tools and CNC programming is essential

Responsibilities

Provide technical aspects of MES at Freeman Hospital and across the region
Maintain high standards of service provision within QA systems
Lead projects, assess referrals, design, manufacture and document
Ensure safe transfer of manufactured/modified products to clinical or educational settings
Comply with legislation and local requirements
Operate equipment safely and efficiently
Undertake additional MES duties as required
Contribute to R&D initiatives
