Job summary

Farnham Road Hospital contains 3 adult inpatient wards and the Health Based Place of Safety. Our ambition is to transform inpatient mental healthcare for our local population. The hospital provides 46 beds, all with single ensuite bedrooms, two lounges, and dedicated outside spaces for each ward, as well as wooded areas for supervised walks.

For our colleagues working here, there will be access to dedicated staff areas per ward, on-site cafes, lounges, and good access to train lines. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-established service providing excellent care. You will work with experienced, knowledgeable, dedicated colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team. We are developing new ways of working and want you to be part of the team providing effective assessment, treatment, and high-quality care.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist the Ward Manager in coordinating team roles and responsibilities.
  • Support the effective operation of the team nursing system.
  • Ensure risk assessments and care plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Provide professional nursing advice to staff and other professionals.
  • Support staff through appraisal, supervision, and professional development.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Essential: RMN Diploma/Degree, Registration with NMC as RMN
  • Desirable: Masters in a relevant subject
Experience
  • Essential: Extensive post-qualification experience in mental health settings (acute inpatient ward, forensic, or HBPoS)
Other requirements
  • This post is subject to DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.
  • Applicants must hold current UK professional registration.
