Job description

Job summary

The main purpose of the job is to contribute to the design, delivery, and assessment of education in clinical pharmacology for undergraduate students across all courses at the University.

Main duties of the job
  1. Teaching in clinical pharmacology, therapeutics, and prescribing
  2. Contributing to curriculum design for the new BSc in clinical pharmacology
  3. Writing learning resources for face-to-face and online teaching
  4. Developing and organising clinical trials skills practicals, recruiting tutors
  5. Delivering large and small group teaching to students on BSc in clinical pharmacology, MBBS, MPharm, and other courses as appropriate
  6. Contributing to assessment through blueprinting, question writing, reviewing, standard setting, and marking
  7. Contributing to other teaching aspects such as clinical skills teaching, simulation, evaluation, course meetings, and curating online content
  8. Deliver one clinic per week in polypharmacy
  9. Contribute to medicines management in the trust, e.g., through membership of the drugs and therapeutics committee and medicines optimisation projects
  10. Encouraged to register for and undertake the postgraduate certificate in healthcare and biomedical education
  11. Opportunity to develop academic skills through research or quality improvement projects relevant to the post

Job responsibilities

The post holder will have an honorary clinical contract with St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Supervision will be provided by experienced educators to support the successful completion of the postgraduate certificate in healthcare and biomedical education.

Additional responsibilities include clinical work, teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and personal development opportunities.
