INTRODUCTION

This post would suit an individual who aims to pursue a career in Medicine with a specialist interest in Medical Education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating and delivering the Trust’s undergraduate clinical teaching programme (five sessions per week per annual average) and will undertake five sessions of clinical duties and professional development.

The main educational duties will be delivering structured clinical teaching sessions, including bedside teaching, seminars, and teaching clinics, as well as running formative assessments including objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs). The post-holder will also develop and deliver simulation sessions alongside the clinical teaching fellow in surgery.

The main clinical duties will be to support the departments within the division of Emergency & Medicine. Specialist clinics and skills training can be arranged according to career interest.

There are no on-call commitments to the post. Locum opportunities are commonly available but can only be taken up as long as they do not impact on the educational service delivery.

Supervision of this post will be divided between the Clinical Sub-Dean for Cambridge Medical Students and the named Educational Supervisor.

The post-holder will have completed at least Foundation Training or equivalent. MRCP is desirable but not essential.

Applications are invited from registered Medical Practitioners for the above post based within the Department of Medical & Dental Education and the Division of Emergency & Medicine.

The Trust provides undergraduate clinical teaching to medical students from the University of Cambridge, School of Clinical Medicine.

Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings and the post holder will be expected to spend approximately five sessions per week teaching undergraduate medical students from Cambridge. The post holder will be expected to participate in the student induction sessions, including those at Cambridge and assessment sessions. It is expected that annual leave will be taken when students are not on placement to the Trust. If leave is taken during a student placement block a prospective cover will have to be agreed by the Medical Education Department.

We are dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity within our workforce and warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on encouraging those from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as candidates from our local area.
