This is an exciting opportunity to develop your teaching and clinical education skills while supporting undergraduate medical students, principally during the first two years of their course. You will facilitate small-group problem-solving and clinical case discussions, contribute to human cadaveric dissection and clinical examination teaching, and have opportunities to lecture. You will also contribute to assessment and examining, including OSCEs, support students' learning needs and work with unit leads on curriculum development.

You will plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate your teaching and work closely with colleagues to inspire students and demonstrate the importance and relevance of basic science to clinical medicine and practice. You will also contribute to teaching students in the clinical phase of the programme and provide student reports as required. You will be allocated a mentor and meet regularly to review your development as an educator.

About you

You will hold an MB ChB or equivalent, have satisfactorily completed two years of Foundation Training, or equivalent, by the time you take up the post, and hold full GMC registration. You will be an enthusiastic and committed educator with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire learners. You will understand how undergraduate medical education is delivered and the attributes required of an effective teacher, while being able to plan and organise your workload, prepare effectively for teaching and undertake student evaluation consistently. Approachable and collaborative, you will work effectively as part of a team and share our commitment to quality in education and an inclusive University community.
