Job summary

A healthcare provider in the UK seeks a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to assist a Registered Nurse with patient care. The role includes personal care, documenting clinical information, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients. Ideal candidates will have clinical experience and be able to work independently. This is a full-time permanent role located at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary with a salary of £24,937 to £26,598 per year pro rata.

Job Summary

Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing personal care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse. Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records. Carry out a limited range of clinical care duties and supervise the work of others.

Main duties
  • Work as an effective team member within the multidisciplinary team and support continued team development in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well being of patients.
  • Assist the Registered nurse (RN) in the delivery of care to a designated patient group, demonstrating an ability to prioritise such care.
  • Determine the comfort of patients by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport.
  • Assist in providing personal hygiene of patients who are unable to do so themselves, including washing, bathing and assistance with using the toilet. Assessing patients\' health safety and wellbeing, escalating to appropriate colleagues if required.
  • Assist in feeding/ giving drinks to patients who are unable to do so for themselves and complete food and fluid charts where necessary.
  • Ensure patient dignity supporting patients with tact, empathy, and persuasion.
  • Report any changes in patient condition to the RN.
  • Act as an effective role model for all team/unit colleagues.
About Us

We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGh and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
