Job overview

We are seeking Clinical Support Workers to join Ward 2 at Furness General Hospital. Ward 2 is a 24-bed Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward. We pride ourselves on providing excellent care and support to patients, families, and carers.

We are looking for enthusiastic, diligent, and motivated individuals with previous care experience and flexibility to work day and night shifts. Structured support, appraisal, and training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting Registered Nurses in providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters.
  • Delivering high-quality care, including washing, dressing, mouth care, assisting with diet and fluids, helping with toilet needs, mobility, and pressure ulcer prevention.
  • Promoting rehabilitation under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and working with the multidisciplinary team.

We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital, along with community healthcare premises across Morecambe Bay.

Our hospitals provide a range of services including emergency, critical care, outpatient, diagnostics, and surgery, as well as outreach services.

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ level 3 in care-related area
  • Completed Trust Support Worker Programme
  • ECDL or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous experience working with the general public
  • Manual handling of patients using lift aids

Skills, ability, and knowledge

  • Good basic hygiene skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Care work experience
  • Awareness of NHS structure and current issues
