Job summary
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a proactive, self-motivated Clinical Support Worker to develop their clinical skills and assist in providing first-class patient care.
You must be enthusiastic and passionate about delivering high standards of patient-centered care and be a professional role model; ensuring patients receive a positive experience in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team.
It is essential that you are flexible and have a good understanding of the challenges and skills required to support patients, families, carers, and staff. You must also demonstrate excellent organisational skills. You should be forward-thinking and open to developing and progressing new ideas and innovative ways of working.
The SROMC, opened in March 2014, provides integrated day case SACT (chemotherapy), outpatient clinics, and access to Health & Wellbeing facilities. The health and wellbeing area includes our Macmillan Patient Information Manager and a Macmillan Welfare and Benefits Adviser. This offers excellent opportunities to develop services supporting patients through treatment, with education programs, complementary therapies, and support through recovery and survivorship.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment. We encourage informal visits to SROMC.
As a Clinical Support Worker, your duties will include performing basic observations, assisting patients attending treatment with essential care, and supporting outpatient clinics.
Additionally, you will undertake more complex duties such as phlebotomy, accessing PICC, Hickman lines, and Port-a-Caths, performing cannulation, ECGs, bladder scanning, swabbing, and basic dressings. You will ensure the unit is maintained in a high state of cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation. You must be able to take instructions from various staff, pay attention to detail, and be an excellent team player/supportive colleague, as well as act on your own initiative.
