Job summary

HCRG Care Group in Swindon is seeking a Foot Care Assistant to support registered podiatrists in delivering community podiatry services across Swindon and surrounding care settings.

You will undertake delegated clinical and non-clinical duties, including routine foot care for appropriate-risk patients and assist in more complex interventions like nail surgery under supervision.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, Healthcare Support, or equivalent experience.
• Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
• Care Certificate.
• Foot Care Assistant qualification or equivalent training.
• Training in aseptic technique or support of minor surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Undertake delegated clinical duties in accordance with local policies, procedures and competency frameworks.
• Deliver routine foot care interventions for appropriately assessed patients.
• Assist registered podiatrists in the assessment and management of patients attending podiatry clinics.
• Support the delivery of nail surgery procedures, including preparation of equipment, treatment environments and patients.
• Assist in the preparation and application of dressings under the direction of a registered podiatrist.
• Undertake post-procedure observations and report findings appropriately.
• Recognise and upscale concerns relating to infection, tissue viability, wound healing, circulation or deteriorating foot health.
• Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control across all clinical areas.

Job Introduction

Delivering Safe, Effective and Person-Centred Foot Care Services

The BSW Podiatry Service is seeking a Foot Care Assistant to support registered podiatrists in the delivery of community-based podiatry services across Swindon and surrounding care settings.

The post holder will undertake delegated clinical and non-clinical duties, including the provision of routine foot care treatments for appropriate-risk patients. The role also involves assisting podiatrists in delivering more complex interventions, including nail surgery clinics. Working within agreed competencies and under the supervision of a registered podiatrist, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care while escalating concerns appropriately.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
