Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Managerial
- Be responsible for the management and prioritisation of clinical administration generated within own workload.
- Respond to changing situations and prioritise work accordingly within own workload.
- Maintain health records within own workload as per Mersey Care Record Keeping Policy.
Leadership
- Mentor new team members and support students and other staff (at equivalent or lower band).
- Attend team meetings and other meetings as delegated by the team leader.
- Submit reports / audits / data collection and returns as required.
- Keep contemporaneous records.
- Ensure communication flow as per communication strategy.
Clinical
- Following appropriate training and assessment, participate in the vaccination of children receiving the Nasal Flu immunisation under the guidance of the immunisation nurse.
- Input clinical data into the clinical systems, interpreting and identifying patterns in vaccine uptake to inform the V&I coordinator for future planning.
- Receive and report accurately and in a timely manner clinical enquiries from families, schools, and other agencies.
- Provide meaningful feedback to GPs and other stakeholders about vaccine uptake amongst specific population groups.
- Support in the delivery of sessions at schools and other community settings.
- Participate as part of the team in Immunisation-related Public Health work/health promotion activities in schools and other settings.
Non-Clinical
- Maintain all immunisation records within workload as per Mersey Care Record Keeping Policy.
- Coordinate all relevant documentation for school-based immunisation programmes, including consent forms and re-call letters to absentees.
- Attend and provide effective support at immunisation sessions in schools, ensuring each child has a correct consent form and as directed by the Lead clinician.
- Upload appropriate data onto systems as required.
- Be responsible for ordering equipment and resources, and arrange for the repair and maintenance of equipment for the Immunisation team.
- Be responsible for the care and safe keeping of equipment issued for personal and team use, reporting any defects or loss.

- Educated to GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English grades C and above, or equivalent work-based experience.

- Experience of a range of IT packages including Microsoft.
