An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated individual to join their Ophthalmology Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across various ophthalmic clinics, providing essential patient care and support. You will be involved in preoperative assessments and day-to-day clinic operations, gaining invaluable experience in ophthalmic nursing. The Ophthalmology Department cares for patients of all ages attending a wide range of ophthalmic clinics. We have doctor/nurse-led clinics on all sites.
Within this post, you will work in general ophthalmology clinics and more specialised ophthalmic clinics, conduct preoperative assessments, and support the organisation and running of clinics on a day-to-day basis. This provides the opportunity to cover all different aspects of ophthalmic care.
You will undergo in-house training specialising in ophthalmic nursing care.
You will be expected to complete the ophthalmic competencies required to work in the department.
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as several community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer a range of general hospital services, including emergency departments, critical/coronary care units, and consultant-led services.
WGH provides general hospital services along with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three hospitals provide planned care including outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day cases, and inpatient surgery. Additionally, local outreach services and diagnostics are provided across Morecambe Bay.
