Job description
Overview

The Acute Medical Unit is a diagnostic and emergency treatment unit within acute medicine with a varied workload. The team is friendly and supportive, with a strong commitment to providing a high standard of care. We are looking for highly motivated, dynamic and passionate individuals.

We pride ourselves on an integrated, friendly and welcoming team made up of Allied Health Professionals including Doctors, Nurses and Therapists. We work closely with all hospital departments and areas, including Accident and Emergency, our ambulatory care team and ward staff. We currently assess/triage and admit patients with acute medical conditions from a variety of sources – including GPs, the Emergency Department and Outpatients Clinics.

Responsibilities
  • Provide delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings.
  • Removal of urinary catheter.
  • Training will be provided.

The role requires you to work as part of a team, use your own initiative, and possess effective interpersonal and communication skills. You will contribute fully as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. We provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship and clinical supervision on the unit and are committed to the professional development of all staff. Team working is integral, with all staff enabled and empowered to make a real difference for their patients.

Qualifications
  • Experience as a Clinical Support Worker is desirable; hospital experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Minimum requirements: GCSE English and Maths grade C/4 or Functional Skills, Care Certificate and/or NVQ2 in health and social care or the equivalent.
