Advertised location: Stirling Advertised salary: Band 3 (£29,103 - £31,409) Employment type: Permanent ***PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY*** We seek to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals in the role of Support Worker within our community residential services for adults with a learning disability. We provide a range of supported living services throughout Forth Valley. Applicants should be committed to the principles of community care and preferably should have direct care experience of supporting people who have a learning disability to achieve their full potential as equal and valued members of society. The overall aim of the service is to support people to live in their own home, in ways that are responsive to individual needs and which encourage people to realise their ambitions and achieve their aspirations. You will be required to actively participate as an integral member of a team providing person-centred care and support to the highest possible standards, in order to improve the quality of life of each individual service-user, both within their home and as part of their local community. Above all you must understand and be able to demonstrate an ethos of dignity and respect and to share in NHS Forth Valley’s six identified values which contribute to successful care delivery in the behaviours you display. The position demands considerable flexibility in terms of work patterns and includes shift work, weekend work, and sleepover duties for which an additional allowance is payable. Additional hours may be required on occasion to meet individual support needs, and to allow attendance at staff meetings or in-house training. Additional hours are available if requested. Support Workers should have the ability to contribute effectively as part of a small staff team. You must also be able to demonstrate initiative and confidence to frequently work alone and in an unsupervised capacity when required. A Keyworker system is in operation and staff members are required to actively participate when supporting service users in all aspects of daily living and individual lifestyle activities where this is deemed necessary. A person centred approach to service delivery, putting the needs, wishes, and choices, of the people who use our services first, is required. Qualification at SVQ Level 2 / 3 Health & Social Care is highly desirable as is evidence of relevant study such as values based training. Training will be provided to achieve a relevant SVQ as a requirement of the post and applicants deemed suitable must be prepared to achieve this within a given timescale. The SVQ in Health and Social Care at level 2 is a minimum requirement of the Scottish Social Services Council for people who are employed in this role. Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council is required for this post.
