Clinical Supervisor and Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Be U Swindon Mental Health Support Team for a full-time Clinical Supervisor and Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner to increase the service's supervision capacity. Under expert supervision and as part of a dynamic and evolving mental health support team, the successful post-holder will supervise, develop, and support Education Mental Health Practitioners/Children's Wellbeing Practitioners to provide guided self-help, low-intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT, and to deliver groups and Whole School Approach Interventions.
The role will also involve identifying areas of need within the team, helping to develop the service, and creating quality improvement plans supported by senior colleagues. The post-holder will hold a small caseload of 6-8 clients, in agreement with their supervisor, and some line management responsibilities will be required. Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with other professionals in children's services, health agencies, and community-based services, managing relationships with schools and attending relevant meetings.
- Attend and contribute to meetings as identified by management.
- Monitor the waiting list for a cluster of schools and allocate referrals via agreed protocols with oversight from the Senior Management Team.
- Advise on and/or lead practice in areas of service and cluster specialism.
- Develop and evaluate existing and new areas of specialism, including audits and participation.
- Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures and report as necessary.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Be trained and confident in CYP IAPT Principles, evidence-based interventions, and routine outcome measures.
- Provide regular case management and clinical supervision to qualified and trainee practitioners.
- Support delivery of Whole School Approach work, including audits, workshops, and groups.
- Offer clinical assessments and LI CBT interventions to children and young people, including those with complex presentations.
- Provide signposting and self-help advice or refer to other services as appropriate.
- Complete data collection requirements and keep coherent records of clinical activity.
- Support clinicians to adhere to contact and session targets to minimize waiting times and ensure accessible, child-centered treatment.
- Model assessment and support techniques for children and young people with common mental health problems.
- Identify training needs and assist in CPD development.
- Attend relevant training sessions and contribute to best practice development within the team.
