Job description

Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to perform basic pharmacy procedures in accordance with scientific principles, hospital policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions include:

  1. Understanding safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  2. Aligning with the hospital mission, personnel policies, and the goals of the Pharmacy department and Orlando Health.
  3. Familiarity with the general duties within the Pharmacy department.
  4. Utilizing resources effectively for customer service and patient care.
  5. Operating pharmacy equipment safely and according to instructions and policies.
  6. Dispensing medications and IV fluids using the medication dispensing system, following scientific principles and policies.
  7. Documenting accurately in forms and systems, adhering to standards of care and quality improvement programs.
  8. Understanding and utilizing computer systems relevant to the department and Orlando Health.
  9. Developing competency in pharmacy practices including pharmacotherapy, patient care, and drug information.
  10. Planning and monitoring pharmaceutical care plans effectively.
  11. Performing clinical responsibilities such as pharmacotherapy consultations and TPN monitoring, if applicable.
  12. Evaluating alerts like IV to PO conversions and renal dosing protocols.
  13. Reporting adverse drug reactions and medication errors appropriately.
  14. Participating in multidisciplinary rounds when applicable.
  15. Maintaining punctual attendance and compliance with hospital policies and legal standards.
  16. Communicating effectively with patients, visitors, families, physicians, and team members to ensure respectful and personalized care.
  17. Providing age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles, and interpreting patient data to meet age-specific needs.

Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training: A Pharmacy degree (Bachelor of Science or PharmD) is required.

Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy and renewed biennially.
