Clinical Specialist Weight Management Dietitian

We are excited to offer the opportunity for innovative, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Dietitians to join a newly funded specialist weight management service, expanding upon our existing bariatric surgical service.

This is your chance to be part of a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary team delivering holistic, person-centred care to reduce health inequalities for adults living with complex obesity across Calderdale and Kirklees.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will:

  • Deliver evidence-based, timely care for patients requiring specialist interventions including bariatric surgery, weight-loss medications, and non-surgical weight management programmes.
  • Work closely with a well-established MDT including Bariatric Surgeons, Endocrinologists, Specialist Nurses, Psychologists, and Dietitians.
  • Conduct independent and MDT clinics, facilitate patient education and support groups, and provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, and pathway innovation.

About You

We are looking for Dietitians who:

  • Hold a degree/diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics and are HCPC registered.
  • Have experience working with patients living with obesity, including dietary and lifestyle interventions, GLP-1 RA medications, and bariatric surgery.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of weight bias and stigma in healthcare and society.
  • Are excellent communicators, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Evidence of up to date best practice in obesity and weight management including surgery, self-directed and reflective practice
  • Behavioural change training/motivational interviewing skills
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate training
  • Practice Clinical supervisory skills training and regular involvement in student training and assessment
  • Attendance at relevant specialist interest groups
  • Relevant accredited post graduate training PDR training
  • Member of Professional Body
  • Studied at Master's level or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
  • Recent advanced post graduate experience to assess and treat within the area of obesity management to include weight loss injectable medications and bariatric surgery
  • Sound knowledge of current issues relating to dietetics and obesity
  • Demonstrates ability in planning, allocating and delegating tasks
  • Experience of working in a specialist weight management team and/or bariatric surgery
  • Sound knowledge of clinical dietetics including anthropometric measurement, biochemical interpretation and devising complex nutritional care plans
  • Proven ability to work within a team
  • Previous experience working at a Band 7 level
