Job description

Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Brighton and Hove, Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of providing vital support to young people (0-18yrs) in Brighton and Hove with mental health difficulties and their families / carers.

Main duties of the job

You will operate as a specialist occupational therapy practitioner providing high quality assessment and intervention to children and young people. You will demonstrate relevant occupational therapy skills and knowledge including applying models of practice, standardised assessment and evidence-based practice. You will act as a lead specialist to the wider team alongside providing standard mental health support including initial assessments and care co-ordination for service users, their families and carers.

You will be part of a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team which includes, nurses, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, family therapists and child psychotherapists.

You will receive supervision from the CAMHS Occupational Therapy professional lead within the wider CAMHS services and have opportunities to network with Occupational Therapists across young people services in Sussex.

Qualifications
  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post qualification study
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist
  • Practice Education training
  • Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools
Knowledge/Experience
  • Extensive experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Experience as a Care Coordinator
  • Experience in a clinical area related to the post
  • Experience in applying a range of assessment tools and a comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy clinical approaches used in mental health
