Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Specialist Nurse to provide clinical leadership within the Tees Crisis Triage & Assessment Hub. The role requires autonomous practice across a 24/7 roster, including nights, days and some weekends, with 8-8 shifts.

The post holder will lead on professional development, deliver evidence-based nursing practice, and supervise colleagues while supporting governance and multi-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Current NMC registration as RMN/RNLD/RGN.
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor.
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and currently providing supervision.
  • Postgraduate certificate/diploma/masters or equivalent study.
  • Minimum 2 years as Band 6 or above with CPD to Level 7.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide live clinical supervision for complex decisions and risk assessment.
  • Support governance and senior clinical staff within the service.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team working and supervision.
  • Travel across the DTV/NY area as required.

Clinical Specialist - Nurse

An exciting opportunity have arisen within the Tees Crisis Triage & Assessment Hub for a competent, confident and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist. The successful applicant will be expected to work across a 24 hour,7 days a week roster and will expect to work both nights, days and some weekends, 8-8 shifts.

The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and provide clinical leadership with in the Tees Crisis Service working alongside the wider leadership team and utilising skills to support colleagues.

The team works collaboratively with internal and external partners to support the needs of individuals in an acute mental health crisis and offer support to their family /carers to support to prevent hospital admission. The team are friendly, professional, and innovative. They have a common interest in living the trust values. Coproduction and collaboration are key drivers of the team's work ethic.

Strong team working is essential, requiring networking with a variety of people, as well as working in partnership with a range of different agencies both internal and external to the team.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role will include leading on professional development and ensuring the delivery of robust evidence-based practice, ensuring high professional standards of nursing practice in accordance with the NMC code of Conduct.

You will provide live clinical supervision to support with complex decision making and risk assessment. Having a prescribing qualification is an advantage but not essential if you have have a willingness to work towards within the initial 12 months.

The post holder will support the team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework. And will participate in clinical/professional and management supervision, contribute to multi-disciplinary team working.

The post holder must abide by all Trust policies and procedures and be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

The post holder must be able to travel independently across the DTV/NY area.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and be providing Clinical Supervision
  • AND have Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses, Module (20 credit) at level 7 For example Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions,
  • And have Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent
Knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
  • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
  • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)
Experience
  • Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field
  • Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
  • Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
  • Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers
  • Working in a multi disciplinary team
  • Quality improvement activities
