Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Neuro Physiotherapist, to join our Out-patient Neuro Therapy Service. The service is currently provided at the William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) and Buckland Hospital (Dover). We are aiming to develop a provision at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital also. The job plan for this post will need to be discussed with the successful applicant but it will involve working at a combination of the above sites.

For this post we require your enthusiasm, motivation and passion to help deliver a patient focused service which is based on evidence with the patient at the core of every aspect of their own pathway. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the visions and values of our speciality and the Trust. They will not only work autonomously, managing their own caseload, but work as a team member ensuring timely communication and collaborative working across many services.

Main duties of the job
The role of the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist is to provide information, support and expert advice in the management of patients with neurological conditions, from the time of diagnosis and throughout the disease spectrum and be an integral part of the multi disciplinary team. To be involved in the advanced assessment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and or/chronic presentation and give highly specialised therapy advice to other team members and to provide a key focus for clinical expertise. To establish and develop sound communication networks, along with other specialists across the Health Economy, in order to provide a high quality, efficient service. In conjunction with the wider MDT, develop and deliver postgraduate training relevant to clinical specialty. In conjunction with the Clinical Lead, ensure clinical governance targets are met, including the development of clinical standards and protocols, specialist evidence based practice, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management.

  • 2 years band 6 in Neurology
  • Experience or participation in research or audit
Qualifications
Essential
  • BSc Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Post graduate courses related to Neurology
Desirable
  • Relevant masters degree or equivalent
  • Member of the CSP
  • Member of ACPIN
Knowledge
Essential
  • Evidence of up to date evidence based knowledge for treating Neurological patients
  • Evidence of post graduate relevant evidence based specialist courses
Desirable
  • Evidence and knowledge of working with other stakeholders, community services and charities
Skills

  • Highly analytical problem solving
  • Highly skilled clinical abilities in Neurology
