Job summary

Cora Health Group's Durham and Darlington Pain Services is seeking a Clinical Specialist in Pain to cover two maternity leaves on a one-year fixed term. The role focuses on assessing patients with chronic pain and creating individual treatment programmes aimed at functional and psychological recovery.

Most work is remote via Teams with some face-to-face clinics within a multidisciplinary team. The role welcomes physiotherapists and nurses, with development time and a clinical education academy,

Qualifications

• Experience in pain management is preferred.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience delivering remote assessments and clinics.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' needs in relation to their goals.
• Plan, manage and review functional and psychological restoration.
• Formulate, deliver, review and progress treatment programmes.
• Conduct comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of patients with physical and emotional needs.
• Review care plans at timely intervals.
• Communicate with GPs and advise on flare-up management plans.
• Provide treatment within best practice and guidelines.
• Deliver safe, effective and dignified care.
• Ensure timely discharge and quality clinical care.

Job description

This Clinical Specialist in Pain post sits in Cora Health Group's Durham and Darlington Pain Services, covering two maternity leaves on a one-year fixed term. The work centres on assessing patients with chronic pain and building individual treatment programmes aimed at functional and psychological recovery, with GPs kept informed of flare-up plans. Most work is remote via Teams with some face-to-face clinics, within a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, nurses and psychological therapists using a biopsychosocial model. Physiotherapists and nurses are welcomed to apply.

What the job involves

• Assess patients' needs in relation to their goals
• Plan, manage and review functional and psychological restoration for individuals and groups
• Formulate, deliver, review and progress individual treatment programmes
• Carry out comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of patients with a wide range of physical and emotional needs
• Review care plans at timely intervals
• Communicate with patients' GPs, advising on ongoing and flare-up management plans agreed with the patient
• Provide advice and treatment within best practice and national guidelines
• Provide safe, effective and dignified care
• Ensure effective treatment, specialist advice and timely discharge
• Deliver quality clinical care for patients with chronic pain

Nice to have

• BSc in physiotherapy
• Previous experience in pain
