Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Clinical Specialist in Behaviour within the Adult Learning Disability Health Service.

The Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health Service (SALDHS) is a centre of excellence for specialist learning disability health needs. We cover 3 localities where multidisciplinary teams enable our service users to access health services through direct care, liaison with other services and offering support and training on how to work with people who have a learning disability and how to make reasonable adjustments.

This is a chance for you to utilise your outstanding communication and leadership skills by undertaking clinical and line management support for a large team. You'll also be supporting the Clinical Lead with the day to day and caseload management.

We support adults with a learning disability with behaviours that may challenge/distress, with associated mental health and physical health needs. We're a friendly and motivated team, taking pride in the work we do by improving the quality of life of the individuals we support.

Main duties of the job

In post, you will independently assess, treat and facilitate the management of the behavioural needs of adults with learning disabilities who display behaviour that may challenge and may have additional complex health needs such as multiple sensory impairment, physical disability, autism, and mental health needs.

  • To support the Clinical Lead- with day-to-day operational management and coordination of provision, making sure that the service is responsive to the needs of the service users and their carers, and to the changing demands of the local health community.
  • Provide leadership, clinical support, and supervision to motivate team members and develop effective team working and personal development through joint working and regular presence at bases as per WoW Charter
  • To complete referral assessments & be a key point of contact for the ALDHS.
  • Undertake highly skilled and specialist holistic assessment of service users to formulate individualised Behaviour Support plans using evidence based clinical reasoning skills and utilising a wide range of interventions, referring to other services or professionals as appropriate.
  • Support carers to understand complex behaviour through formulation and teaching sessions enabling them to implement recommended management strategies.
  • Act as an expert resource, providing specialist behavioural advice regarding complex behaviour.
