Job description

Are you passionate about safeguarding? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical specialist to join the UHCW NHS Trust Safeguarding Team. The successful candidate will join a supportive and innovative team, continually striving to ensure that all Trust staff know their safeguarding responsibilities and are equipped to improve services and outcomes for families in their care.

The post holder will provide highly specialist safeguarding advice and support within the Trust on safeguarding matters, ensuring compliance with relevant quality, safety, national guidance, and legislation. This will involve policy and service development around safeguarding.

The role requires collaborative working and effective inter-disciplinary and inter-agency relationships with all partner agencies to minimize risks to children and young people.

Please note this is a part-time job with 30 hours per week.

  • Maintain expertise, knowledge, and professional leadership regarding statutory safeguarding responsibilities for children and young people.
  • Exercise effective leadership, ensuring support and advice are available, with clear guidance on out-of-hours contacts.
  • Support review and development of Trust policies, procedures, and standards for safeguarding, incorporating best practices and evidence.
  • Provide written and statistical reports on safeguarding activities for relevant committees and forums.
  • Assist with internal reviews of serious incidents, including Serious Practice Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews, following statutory guidance.
  • Support dissemination and implementation of learning from safeguarding cases and reviews across the Trust.
