Job summary

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Band 3 role based at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds. You will assist in delivering high standard patient care, document care, and support department flow and bed management.

The role involves clinical interventions such as ECGs, phlebotomy, cannulation, and blood glucose testing, along with basic infection control and patient transfer support. Flexible working and a pro rata salary apply.

Qualifications

• Good general education including Maths and English at GCSE grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent).
• NVQ level 3 or working towards.
• National Care Certificate holder (Desirable).
• Functional skills level 1 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Carry out clinical interventions identified as part of the role with competency, including recording ECGs, phlebotomy, cannulation and blood glucose testing.
• Demonstrate basic cleaning and decontamination of communal equipment.
• Carry out minor treatments for patients such as wound care and simple dressings.
• Accurately use IT systems to record observations, treatments and all aspects of care.

Job summary

Assist in the delivery of a high standard of patient care, observing and reporting specific changes and documenting care given.

Assist senior staff with coordinating department flow, liaising with bed management team, updating FirstNet/e-Care, assisting with patient transfers and other duties as required.

Delivery of care

• Ensure own actions are consistent with clinical governance systems and practice in accordance with agreed standards of care
• Adhere to the basic principles of infection control demonstrating effective hand hygiene and awareness of potential cross infection.
• Accompany patients to other wards/departments as required.
• Carry out clinical interventions identified as part of the role and for which competency has been assessed, including recording of ECGs, phlebotomy, cannulation and blood glucose testing, documenting and reporting the results
• Demonstrate basic cleaning and decontamination of communal equipment between patient use and / or storage.
• Carry out minor treatments for patients, for example: wound care and simple dressings.
• Accurately use IT systems to record observations, treatments and all aspects of care
• Follow trust policies in accordance with the Trust objectives
