There will be ongoing support as you continue to enhance your teaching and assessment skills within this role, as well as keeping up to date with evidence based clinical knowledge.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. First level registration with NMC or equivalent
2. Teaching and assessing qualification
3. Degree or willingness to undertake further study
4. Basic Life support

Desirable criteria

1. ILS / ALS

Experience

Essential criteria

1. 4 years post registration experience
2. Evidence of ongoing CPD

Knowledge and Audit/Research

Essential criteria

1. Awareness of current local priorities for HYMS, nursing and MDT learning
2. Ability to collect and analyse data
3. Ability to produce recommendations post audit and develop action plans
4. Awareness of current local and international NHS agenda

Desirable criteria

1. Previous experience of participation in audit projects
2. Previous experience of involvement in research or an awareness of research methodology

Clinical Skills

Essential criteria

1. Ability to perform extended role skills eg venepuncture, cannulation, ECG
2. Ability to assess standards of clinical practice / competency
3. Evidence of patient centred approach
4. Ability to respond to clinical questions/queries from all levels of clinical staff
5. Ability to provide supervised practice to all levels of staff and to provide effective feedback to improve clinical skills and patient care
6. Ability to promote latest evidenced based practice

Teaching, Learning and Development

Essential criteria

1. Proven skills in presentation, facilitation, teaching plans, teaching aids and literature reviews
2. Proven ability to identify training needs
3. Proven ability to share and spread good practice
4. Awareness of adult learning styles
5. Awareness of learning and development strategies
6. Ability to develop training packages

Leadership and Management

Essential criteria

1. Proven leadership qualities
2. Proven ability to develop staff
3. Proven organisational and time management skills
4. Flexible approach to working
5. Evidence of participation in multi-professional groups
6. Ability to communicate and work with all levels of staff across HYMS and NHS Trusts

Desirable criteria

1. Ability to lead multi-professional groups
2. Awareness of budgetary considerations/constraints

Change and Risk Management

Essential criteria

1. Evidence of successful change management
2. Influencing and negotiating skills especially in difficult or sensitive situations
3. Experience of dealing appropriately with sensitive information
4. Participation in or an awareness of risk management process

Communication Skills

Essential criteria

1. Evidence of sound verbal and written communication and computer skills
2. Ability to influence and motivate others
3. Ability to keep accurate records
4. Ability to network locally/regionally

Desirable criteria

1. Ability to organise and lead meetings, produce and disseminate good quality minutes
