Clinical Senior Lecturer in Perioperative Medicine (Critical Care & Perioperative Medicine Research Group)

About the post

Applications are invited for a new Clinical Senior Lecturer post in Perioperative Medicine at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), based in the Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Research Group led by the Professors Rupert Pearse and Gareth Ackland. The post will include an honorary clinical contract with Barts Health NHS Trust to undertake clinical work as a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal London Hospital.

About You

Applications are welcome from doctors who can practice as a consultant anaesthetist in the NHS. They will be on the GMC specialist register or within six months of obtaining a certificate of completion of training (CCT) or equivalent at the time of interview. The successful candidate will have a higher research degree (PHD or MD(res)) in a field relevant to perioperative medicine, a track record of securing internationally competitive research funding, successful completion of postdoctoral research in experimental medicine, and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. A higher education teaching qualification is desirable.

About the team

This new post will underpin our world leading research programme by actively contributing to our existing research and developing new research themes. Our group leads a number of research projects conducted across east London as well as large multi-centre studies throughout the UK and worldwide. We are particularly interested in applicants seeking to expand upon our existing methodological strengths in translational experimental/perioperative medicine (from clinic to laboratory).

About Barts Health NHS Trust

Barts Health is a leading tertiary referral center for neurosciences, trauma, cardiovascular disease, vascular, renal, hepato-biliary medicine and surgery. We are one of the leading research active NHS trusts in the UK and have a very effective research partnership with QMUL. The successful candidate will join a team of consultant anaesthetists at the largest hospital within the Trust.

This is a full-time position with a salary range from £105,504 per annum

(inclusive of London Allowance) depending on experience.
