Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust in Leicester is seeking a registered or soon-to-be registered clinical scientist to join Radiotherapy Physics and support the service under a Lead Clinical Scientist. Based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, the team uses Varian systems (Halcyon and TrueBeams) with ARIA, Eclipse, and QA processes to deliver safe, high-quality treatments.

You will work with dosimetrists, oncologists and radiographers, cover all radiotherapy physics duties, maintain HCPC

Qualifications

• Honours degree in Physics or relevant subject.
• Postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) or equivalent.
• State Registration as a Clinical Scientist or expecting to achieve within the next 12 months.
• Evidence of attendance at conferences or training courses intended to extend the breadth and depth of knowledge

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex treatment planning for external beam radiotherapy.
• Carry out dosimetry calculations and QA.
• Analyse treatment parameters and guide dose distribution.
• Advise staff on treatment plan options and patient setup.
• Assist with brachytherapy dosimetry and quality control.
• Maintain HCPC registration and participate in on-call rota.

Education

First or second class honours degree in Physics or relevant subject

Postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) or equivalent

State Registration as a Clinical Scientist or expecting to achieve within 12 months
