Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Clinical Scientist to join our Radiotherapy Physics team at the Beacon Centre, one of the South West's leading radiotherapy services. As part of our supportive and dynamic team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our treatments are safe, accurate, and at the forefront of cancer care.
The Radiotherapy Physics team is moving into an exciting new era as we commission Raystation TPS, you'll play an active role in commissioning and utilising this system through dose data acquisition, plan verification and treatment technique development.
Provide specialist medical physics support for high-quality radiotherapy treatments.
Conduct complex quality assurance (QA), calibration, and dosimetry procedures on state-of-the-art equipment.
Design and independently verify external beam radiotherapy treatment plans, including IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SABR, and SGRT.
Collaborate with Clinical Oncologists, Radiographers, Dosimetrists, and fellow Scientists to optimise treatment accuracy and patient safety.
Contribute to service development, R&D initiatives, and implementation of innovative treatment techniques.
Act as an Operator under IR(ME)R 2017 and uphold governance and quality standards across the department.

The post holder provides specialist clinical scientist services to patients of the Radiotherapy Department such that they receive safe, accurate and efficient radiotherapy treatments. The key duties performed by the post-holder are detailed in the attached job description.
