A leading healthcare organization in Leeds is seeking a Principal Nuclear Med Physicist to provide medical physics expertise and support nuclear medicine services. The role involves improving clinical services, educating staff, and engaging in research to enhance practices. Candidates should have a strong background in medical physics and radiation safety.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
To act as a Medical Physics Expert as defined in the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017, providing expert medical physics, radiation protection, and dosimetry advice to clinical staff and external parties. To support nuclear medicine services within the Trust and externally. To deputise for the Head of Section when required. To supervise staff and assess trainee competency for unsupervised procedures. To advise on technology failures and determine clinical readiness of equipment. To manage quality assurance for relevant systems.
Identify service improvement opportunities, participate in multidisciplinary teams, and implement new techniques to benefit patients. Responsible for developing and evaluating new equipment, accessories, techniques, and complex nuclear medicine software and systems.
Provide education and training to students, radiographers, technologists, physicists, clinicians, management, and the public on nuclear medicine topics.
Engage in research to improve nuclear medicine practices, develop new diagnostic techniques, and implement advanced equipment and facilities.
